| I'm Diggin it!
| In the Army, we occasionally have to pull a 24 hour shift guarding critical mission equipment, prisoners, guard towers on camp perimeters, or in my case tonight, a bank of phones in the Installation Operations Center. You see, I have a Top Secret security clearance, which is what's required to pull duty in this place. There really aren't many aviators who have a TS clearance. That an you have to be an E-7 or above. In my Battalion, there's exactly three of us that meet this criteria. Actually, the duty isn't all that bad. I just wanted to let you guys know that if you don't see me for the next 24 hours, you'll know why. Hopefully, they have the "Duty" computer fixed so I can browse the forums while I'm there. Last time I had it, the "Duty" computer was on the fritz. | ROFL. Boy do I remember those days. While stationed in Korea, we'd have these once a month 7 day excerises in full MOPP 4 gear, with 24 hour duty shifts. DSN phones were a lifesaver. =) | ||||||||||||||

| I have had 24 hour duty everyday with the wife for the last 26 years 11 months. I would pay good money to be removed for 24 hours. ![]() | ||||||||||||||

| It's not so bad, watch movies, and make round every few hours. The hard part is staying awake, at my age anything past 10pm is murder. Having the internet is a real plus. I have a World Wide Phone so I can call anywhere in the world :D. Even though i never use it. Always afraid I will get caught. | ||||||||||||||

| LOL - Dude, I am so fricken happy I don't have to do that anymore. SDNCO sucked so bad. About every third time would have to go sign for some dumba** at the MP station... Pulling duty while a DS was actually kind of fun. We'd rotate and every 5th duty we would be SDNCO for the battalion as opposed to just CQ. Having fire drills was always a highlight of the evening (for me), that and head count (we had females cycles too), never knew what you were going to come across on head count. Specially the after midnight one. Awww... the memories :) Next time you're on duty on a weekday, drop me a line at DSN 552-7788, ask for Ray (any of you with DSN access that is). ![]() Joe, as soon as this civilian dude that runs this place leaves for the night, and he's liable to be here for awhile with our weather, I'll PM you a number to call. Right now, the weather lines have been going nuts and the recorded lines are the only ones not ringing off the hook. ![]() Q6600@ 3.2GHz w/ CNPS9700 | EVGA 780i | 2Gb Corsair DDR2-800 | EVGA 9800GTX 512 Video | 1x WD 640Gb HDD, 2x Seagate 400Gb HDD, 1x250Gb WD | 2x Samsung SH-203B Opticals | Antec 900 | ABS/Tagan BZ700 700W PSU | |||||||||||||||

| Yeah I have a World Wide DSN at my desk in my office. I hardly ever use it though. The other NCOs in my office use it more then I do to call DA, and other posts in the States. It gets very annoying to come to my desk and some jackass is chatting with their branch manager, and sitting in my damn chair! | ||||||||||||||
