Exclamation I got a shock!

Man, did I get a big shock tonight! I went to check my main credit card online, and guess what I find out I've been given a 3 grand credit boost out of no where! If I didn't have to check it tonight, I'd have not found out about it until I got my bill.

I won't spend this extra credit, as I'm trying to pay off my credit card debt already...but the thing I thought later was "That could pay for that customized Dell XPS 1330 that's $2312.10 after GST and shipping!"

I must be one of the luckiest guys around, or else the company wants me to spend it (if that's the case, they can forget it!).

What do you think?

The company wants you to spend it. It's not really legal although tolerated, and you can actually refuse this extra credit.

I think they want you to spend some of that economic stimulus money the Feds gave you in order to cover the outrageous interest rate your credit card will charge you for charging $2,312.10 to it.

Get a HP or even a regular Inspirion. They aren't bad notebooks, brother. And you'll be saving yourself some cash to boot.

honestly XPS are overrated.
And the Credit limit raised is so you'd go further into debt.
They randomly raise my limit all the time, i started in 2003 with 500 dollars limit, i'm up to now 3900, with the main raise in the last 2 yrs from 1000-3900. I don't have any debt, i pay off in full every month, so they must hate me =D

Haha that's awesome man. And they love to do that, they expect you to get in debt, pay tons of fees and crap. After all, that's how they make money. :P

forget about the XPS. I have one (the 1530) but if I had the choice of swapping to this one I would:

Something you may want to consider is just how much that new Dell (or like machine) will actually cost you if you use a credit card to purchase it. That $2,312.10 just nay be a small number once spread oout over time with a credit card.

They're trying to get you to spend more. Just because its possible does not mean you need to use it...

As mentioned, looks like WE has already decided to spend that CC money.

Back 10 years ago, I started off with a Bank of America CC and a $5k limit. Even though I only have $1500 on there at any given time, some monthly bills to keep the card active and keep my 5.9% interest, they have raised the limit to $25k over the years.

You buy $1000 on a CC and take a year to pay it off, you're looking at paying over $1100 for that item. If you don't pay it off, man, the charges really get up there quick.

Under revision.

This thread started from a guy who posted the ecstatic "I'm debt free!" thread last year?

My humble opinion that don't mean much: Pay off of the debt. Save up the money to buy a laptop, if you really need one....
