| I wasn't going to bring this up and burden you all with my personal garbage, but I figure it's something to talk about. Yes, it's true...I am now ungainfully unemployed. Well, not entirely... You see, I am actually a contract employee, which means I am employed by this one company who sends me out to actually work at another company. I've always been a bit confused by it myself, but it gets me work. I performed a major screwup this afternoon, in which a couple people could have been really hurt - or worse - and in the end, I lost my job over it. Now fortunately, the two guys were not hurt in the least, but that's only due to me realizing my mistake soon enough. I feel really bad about what happened, and for what could have happened, but the company I worked at seemed unwilling to let go my first big mistake since I've worked there. Looking back on it, I'm not even sure it was the incident itself that did it, but rather me getting in this one guys face when he started running his mouth within earshot of me. He thought I wasn't in the room for the "He's-leaving-and-probably-has-an-I-don't-give-a-f***-attitude-anyway" comment, but I was. No way I was gonna let that go. I told him I don't have that sort of attitude, and to not talk to me like I'm five. First it was a write-up, and within 10 minutes it was a call from my boss at the contract agency telling me that they did not want me back. All is not lost though, because the guy at the contract company already wants to offer me another position somewhere. I have to talk to him in more detail about it tomorrow, so I'll know more then. I am also in talks with another completely seperate company to get hooked up with their facility in New Mexico for when I relocate to Albuquerque in a couple months. Oh well, it was a sucky afternoon, but life goes on. If it's not fixed, then don't broke it! |

| I'm Diggin it! | Brother, we both know about a sucky day huh? Look at it the way I do. No matter what happened, you've lived through it, you didn't cause any deaths/maiming and jobs can be replaced just like "stuff" can. ![]() Q6600@ 3.2GHz w/ CNPS9700 | EVGA 780i | 2Gb Corsair DDR2-800 | EVGA GTX 280 1Gb Video | 1x WD 640Gb HDD, 2x Seagate 400Gb HDD, 1x250Gb WD | 2x Samsung SH-203B Opticals | Antec 900 | ABS/Tagan BZ700 700W PSU |

| Functional Alcoholic | Yeah man loosing your job always sucks. That’s what sucks about civilian jobs if you screw up you can loose your job. When I was in college I had a security gig at night. One night the building I was working in got broke into. The person that broke in didn't steal anything because I heard the glass break and high tailed it down to the part of the building that I heard the noise from. They must have heard me coming and took off. When I got there the window was busted out and glass was all over the floor, but nothing appeared to be missing. I called the Police and my supervisor. For some reason by the time the whole ordeal was over I was fired. Some how they made it my fault. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Things happen for a reason. You will probably end up with a better job now that you’re forced to look for a new one. |

| I've never been fired but I've quit quite a few jobs and I always seem to have a feeling of relief and anxiety when doing so. The good part is you get to start a new adventure somewhere else. ![]() |

| well i'm not only sorry about you losing the job, but happy that you aren't going to completely suffer since you mentioned some work being available. nonetheless it sucks losing a job, i know how it is since they had to lay off my dad at the company he worked cuz they were running out of cash. he'd been working there 8 years. it isn't easy, TRUST me... i bid you good luck my friend, and things will turn around for the better. it's a fresh start, like Joker said ![]() |

| If I read this right you were doing contract work for a company through another company. The company you were providing services at simply said to your actual employer they did not want you back? Quote:
You also mention plans for going (relocating) to New Mexico in a short time. Thus, I wouldn't lose any sleep over all of this. I did a number of years doing contract work, mostly for DOD activities. Good bucks but the benifits sucked. Hey, better things ahead. Ron | |
