HL Wallpaper?

I think it would be a great idea if someone (not me; I wouldn't want to disgrace HL's good name) made some HL wallpaper avalible for download. I myself would use it. I don't know, if someone has the time to do it, I think it would be a great idea; how 'bout you guys?

Not Space, load. Wallpaper is big. A 10 Page PDF can be as small as 100K - but a 1200+ wallpaper can be large. Its a bandwidth issue. Space = cheap, Bandwidth = $$$

Not saying its a bad idea - its not. Just saying it needs to be looked into.

I completely understand. I'll wait until this site gets to be huge, and advertisers will be bidding to get site space, and sooo many people will want to get into these forums that there will be a bid just to see who will get a seat, and our reviews will be the benchmark by all others are judged... A good day that will be.

I have a LOT of 1920x1200 wallpapers that are ~300k-400k

Considering how much bandwidth image based signatures use ... a wallpaper would have to be several MB to account for too much of a server load. It's not like it will get thousands of downloads per day.

There's a lot on DeviantArt that size (link goes to HDTV/Widescreen section). I get a lot from Skins.be as well. I think the largest I've seen on DeviantArt was about 1.5mb...was 1920x1200 and had a lot of color.

Most of mine are either in JPEG or PNG format.

I would be willing to offer bandwidth and space for HL wallpapers, and would use them to boot. Don't use much of mine right now anyways. (I use about 2-3% right now of my total bandwidth available.)
