Default History of Game Consoles

I forgot about a lot of these and with good reason since they were lousy.

yeah, really. Only one I recognized was the Atari 2600(I think it was) in 77, then the Atari and others after 82.

my gaming all started with the Atari 5200 in 1982 (when I was 6)... I remember seeing some of the older ones and I have played a majority of the newer ones since then

Yeah, they were lousy compared to today, and some of the more obscure of them were lousy period...but dude...you were there...how awesome Pong was. With three TV networks, here was another use of the television...which was pretty worthless for much of the day if you didn't like soap operas or reruns of "Leave it to Beaver". (we didn't get cable until the early 80s) That was the thing...go to a friend's house, drink beer, and play Pong or Odyessy (which had other versions of Pong).

The Atari 5200 was my first console purchase, complete with trackball (for Centipede) and a couple of other add-on peripherals. Can't remember what I paid for it, but it was pretty damn expensive for 1982. I remember that the keypads sucked, and I replaced them a couple of times. Actually, I think that it was the only console I ever purchased for myself, every one after that was for the kids. (I bought my first PC a few years later)

My mother-in-law worked for Atari back in the early 80's and they had a game room with all their stand-up and console games that I could go play whenever I wanted. That was great but Atari didn't last.

As far as consoles go no they didn't, but they are still making some kickass games.

We had the original Pong game and later on, the Atari 2600. I got into computers, a TRS-80, right after that. I didn't have another console until the SuperNES came out.

I still have an atari 2600, sega genesis, and a sega saturn. I bust out the asteroids and the missle command every once in a while with the 2600. Madden 96 on the genesis. Aliens on the saturn. I love the old consoles, too many damn buttons on the new ones.

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

My favorite was the first Zelda...I'm pretty sure that it was on the Atari 260
