Default Harry Potter

I'm off to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in about fifteen minutes. I'm really excited since those Potter fans who've seen it think it's great, though the critics say it's just so-so. Most of the critics write that they've never read the books, claiming that the movies should stand on their own without any prior knowledge of the books or previous films. What they don't know is that Warner made the movies for HP fans, not critics, and for the $900 million in expected ticket sales.

As one of the old farts in here, I can honestly say I enjoy the Harry Potter books almost as much as the movies. Have read all of them twice so far, and also have the movies on DVD to watch. Now I must wait for this last book, and Order of Phoenix to come out on DVD.

I thought it was way worsely directed than the first couple

Example: the lower FPS shots, that work excellently in Band of Brothers battle scenes (like 15 fps vs 29.9 fps), did not work at all in Harry Potter.

BUT, I did enjoy the movie. Definitely worth staying up till 3 am

Both of my kids say they liked it, but that they would wait till the movie comes out on DVD to see it again. You know how kids are, if they like a movie, they will see it multiple times while it's in the theaters.
