Default Had to do some Tree cutting today

We had a pretty nasty storm Thursday night that knocked down the tree between mine and the neighbors house. Luckily when it fell it didn't damage anything, it just hit the ground. I got it all cleaned up today despite the 100 degree heat.

Upon further inspection I discovered that termites had eaten the base of the tree, and that's why the wind knocked it down

It barely touched my kitchen window. Didn't even snag the screen.

This is all that was left after I cut it all up.

Whew, glad it missed your house! It's always bad when storms do stuff like that... kinda glad i don't have any sizable trees right by my house (although my fence got messed up by a loose trampoline once.)

I am glad too, but my house is brick, so the only thing I was really worried about was roof damage.

Nice job!

We took down a big pine a few months ago. Thing was right beside the house and a threat. Fortunately I have some great neighbors. Case of beer and about 8 hours and it was cut and stacked.

Pine sucks unless you burn it in an outside fire pit. We finally got rid of it.

Ah glad nothing was touched. Sucks to work on such a hot day haha. It was extremely humid and hot here too, 100F or so +80% humidity. @_@

Well my neighbor isn't so great, the tree was technically on his side of the property line, but he considers the edge of his driveway to be the property line, and everything to the right is mine. I think its because that makes less grass for him to cut. He kept referring to it as my tree that fell down and not his. He did agree to haul the debris away this week while I am at work, so at least he is helping. Otherwise it would sit there all week until next Saturday.

What a kind neighbor. Time to put a fence "on your side". :P

First, I can't take any credit for the neighbors. My wife moved here when she was 11 years old. She is now 60 and on the same street she grew up on. Most of the neighbors are the kids she babysat for as families die and then grow again. The street is this tiny lost place of Americana I have come to like.

The saying goes "good fences make good neighbors" just doesn't hold true here.

Damn shame when shit like property lines draw divisions when a tree falls. If the tree was yours then fine but I would get a map of the property. Pay a surveyor if one is not available from the city/town.

Just My Take
Ron

btw, i'd contact an exterminator to determine where the termites are. We had a similar issue at our house and my dad got an exterminator out to the house to just check that the area near the house was still "Safe".

Oh and you want comedy on property lines? The tree fell forward from our house and fell over the side walk and road. So the town came for cleanup. You'd think they'd remove the tree. Nope they just cut the tree right where it meets the sidewalk and removed everything after it. So we had this long tree trunk about 9 feet long on our flowerbed type thing. Had to get a chainsaw and hack pieces up and pile it up for sanitation to remove.

(thanks blake!)

Pay a surveyor I think not since I am one. I haven't measured it with an instrument, but I read the original tract maps and the tree was on his side. From the pictures you can see the fence in front of my side garage door, thats the actual property line. It's not really a huge deal, I would have cut the tree anyways, because I have a chainsaw and he doesn't. I would also cut the grass anyways because a strip of long grass would look stupid, since I cut my grass weekly and he doesn't. What pisses me off is he is an ass about everything, when I go out of my way to be a nice guy.
