Default This guy puts us all to shame...

Haven't seen any new posts here in a few days so I thought I'd throw this one in - it's a few days old but still noteworthy.

Japan city suspends official for surfing porn at work - Yahoo! News

Something like 22,000 hits in 8 months. And they only suspended him!

The bureaucrat was suspended from the office for three months and was demoted as of Thursday, Ueyama said.
The Japanese have a strange culture when it comes to pornography. The public demotion and suspension are a harsh punishment but even more a major disgrace for an employee. Especially considering the offense. The Japanese have this thing about honor.

Much unlike here in the US where we tend to refer to judges and other elected officials as "The Honorable" when there is little to nothing "Honorable" about them the Japanese actually take the word seriously and honor is an important part of their culture.

The guy is toast.

I know Japanese culture values honor, but publicly shaming him might not be too bad given that he didn't have enough self-control to keep from looking at these sites at work for 3 hours a day for eight months.

Oh yeah, this cookie is going down big time. The Japanese also don't screw around when it comes to metting out punishment. The guy slid multiple times before they nailed his butt.

I wonder how this would pare in comparrison to a corporate punishment in the US?

That's 6,125 hits a day (assuming 8 months and 20 work days a month). I'd heard that on some sites one click would result in mutiple hits, but even so that's still a lot of clicking.

On the other hand, how long do you actually want/need to look at one pic before moving on to another one?

with those numbers, I suspect at least 90% of those "clicks" were from the viruses
