it is funny but childish at the same time.... what better way to mess with people... maybe next time it would be wise for them to block the IR lens???

Maybe next time it would be wiser to block the problem entirely?

CES has no shortage of displays. And when MAKE offered us some TV-B-Gone clickers to bring to the show, we pretty much couldn't help ourselves. We shut off a TV. And then another. And then a wall of TVs. And we just couldn't stop.
No, they could have stopped but chose not to reflecting their mentality and maturity level.

Sorry but sounds to me like a bunch of flaming, immature assholes who found some humor in screwing things up. Much like those who get a nut writing viruses simply because they can. Two words sum them up: Disruptive Assholes.

It's funny but I wouldn't be happy if I were the one being messed with.

Consider the ones being "messed with" had invested thousands to tens of thousands of dollars for space at the show. Floor space at any show is not a cheap commodity. They also spent considerable money on presentations on their display setup and reaching the show's visitors. There is a great deal of work and money that goes into setting up for a show and sending out the message of your product.

Then some morons with nothing to offer come along and screw it up under a guise of humor? Their bullshit game cost money. It wasn't funny. It was pathetic at best. Personally, I believe they should be sued to the max.

Rich, Paul and Chris attended the show. I can't immagine, despite their being less than happy with some of it disrupting the show. I guess it is just a matter of maturity level.

LOL! I love it. I bet next year everyone will put some tape over the IR lenses.

Yeah, but the point is, short of disruptive and imature assholes, who were there by invite, that should not be necessary.

Then too, lets assume next year exhibitors do use tape. What next as assholes decide it should be an ECM game? How many countless things can they screw up.

I think it is a maturity thing. I realize these companies spent a lot of money and time setting these things up and it disrupted the shows but I still find it funny. Not hilarious, but "chuckle" funny.

OK, I can understand that. Let's try a game of perspective. Lets say the fledgling Tyreal Corp. LTD just spent about $10,000 on floor and table space at the CES show. Tyreal Corp is a new distributor of broadband video encryption software. Your display involves two big screen monitors placed 100 feet apart. You are running your latest video confrence software, really high tech encryption, much like used within DoD and on Air Force One. Your life is your company and your company is every dime you own. The people watching your presentation are potential customers and clients. You are presenting a $100,000 software package.

Then some asshole presses a button and everything goes to shit. Now, the question is how does Tyreal feel? Do you think it was just a funny prank as your potential market moves along? You sit there looking stupid with a sinking feeling in your gut. There was no way in hell you could have dreamed someone would do that.

I just think the humor was short lived when one looks at the damage done. The CES show includes a scope of vendors well exceeding the computer stuff we look at.

The guy with the TV-B-Gone was told not to mess with presentations or press releases, but did that to Motorola anyway.
