No need for it (hell, I don't even have a TV). It's a good find though!

I could have sworn that this was just not over the air, but even cable channels as well?

If you have cable you don't need it but I put in for 2 boxes just to have so I can get over the air if cable goes down for awhile. Which it has with ice storms before.

This is for OTA (over the air with antenna) ONLY. If you have local cable or satellite then this has no impact.

Unless your cable goes down and you don't have a tv capable of receiving digital OTA broadcasts. The cable goes down then it does have an impact.

if you have cable, you most likely don't have an antenna anyways.... plus some areas do not have OTA channels (like my area)
