Default Family sues school for sons patriotic shirt

FOXNews.com - Family Sues School District After Son Gets Detention for Wearing T-Shirt With Gun Image - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

Quote:
Officials at Penn Manor High School in Millersville, Pa., gave Donald Miller III two days of detention in December after he refused to turn his shirt inside out. But Donald and his parents say the shirt is a symbol of patriotism, and they've taken the case to federal court.
Donald's shirt showed a military weapon and the words "Volunteer Homeland Security" on the front. The back of the shirt displayed the words "Special Issue — Resident — Lifetime License — United States Terrorist Hunting Permit — Permit No. 91101 Gun Owner — No Bag Limit" over another image of the weapon.
I say the schools need a very specific dress code or else they cannot force kids to do this. There is nothing wrong with this shirt and I hope the school district has to pay out some money before they try this again...

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Yeah ... if they don't have defined dress code prohibiting it specifically then the kid has been denied free speech and is not entirely in rebellion.

My school had a "no guns/weapons" in the dress code. 'course they also had a "no dressing like a skank", but that didn't stop anyone either.

I find the shirt amusing.

To me it looks more like a taser though.

Sounds like a shirt that encourages violence IMHO and JM.02.
