| The Final Word
| ![]() Believe it or not, not everything we do is hardware related. Although I rarely leave the house anymore, I try to entertain myself in a number of ways.....some successful, and some, well, not so much. We've all done our share of stupid, or less than genius level things, and today I'll share with you the three best stories my wife loves to share with everyone. They may or may not be Darwin Award candidates, but they've gotten more than their share of laughs from friends and family. Something Paul, Sean, and I were talking about yesterday was the fact that you have to have a good sense of humor to work at HL, as it's a tough crowd (ask Dave of Jeff). One quality we value as much as any knowledge is the ability to have fun, and laugh at yourself as easily as you laugh at others. So kick back, read on, and have a laugh at my expense. Then think back to some of your own stories (we all have them), and head over to the forums to share with us some of your less than stellar moments. | LOL To be totally honest, I can't think of a single story that touches any of those. Most of my embarassing moments are from typical male stuff...not asking for directions, doing stuff myself that would better be done by an expert, etc. | ||||||||||||||

| Nice blog, Rich. I will be the first to admit that I have a definite lack of sense of humor. However, I am working on it... gradually. And yeah, friggin' Paul. Got way too much time on his hands. Last edited by garetjax; November 12th, 2007 at 16:52. | ||||||||||||||

| HAHAHAHAHA, I liked the plane story! The super glue was a close second, but the way you described the plane being devoured by its own engine... PRICELESS! ![]() | ||||||||||||||

| Ok I'll throw in one of my moments...... Going back about 9 or 10 years we were heading back from a track day at Thruxton raceway in the UK on our bikes , there were 6 or 7 of us as we pulled up to a friends house to reflect on the day (bear in mind the small convoy of bikes pulling into his driveway included me on a Yamaha R1,2x GSXR's, a Fireblade and a few other big bikes i cannot recall). His sister was waiting at the doorway complaining that her 50cc scooter was not running properly and she was late for work. I was quickly enlisted to diagnose the problem being the auto tech of the group. Still wearing full race leathers i got on to the 30mph capable beast(if the wind is at your back) and proceed up the driveway at full throttle. Well it coughed and missed a little at first and then cleared itself and seemed to run as well as can be expected from the sewing machine sized motor. I turned around and headed back toward the group of onlookers and once again opened the throttle right up to demonstrate it was running great ......... .......Now heres where it goes all wrong. Anyone who has ridden a full sized motor cylce knows that the clutch is operated with the left hand lever , front brake right hand lever etc..... well on this particular model of Italian scooter exoctica there is no clutch and the brake is where the clutch should be.... I've hit the maximum 30mph as i approach the group and proceed the pull in the clutch(no clutch dummy thats a brake) well didn't the front wheel lock up and and send me and the moped both on our sides through the garage door into the back of a rather hard Saab 900.The laughter went on into the night, and a few nights after that. I am forever known to this day as the one who can ride R1's,Ninja's,Fireblades,etc etc at 180mph but can't be trusted with a scooter ![]() X6800 @ 3.6Ghz Asus P5K Premium Leadtek 8800GTX @ 659/960 2gb OCZ Spec Ops @1066 5/5/5/15 | ||||||||||||||
