Default ebay vs craigslist

Recently, craigslist sued fleabay for illegal practices:

DailyTech - Craigslist Sues eBay, Makes Documents Public

Previously ebay sued Craigslist for degrading their stake in the company (when it was really because they could not skim/steal enough information from craigslist)

DailyTech - Details Surface on eBay, Craigslist Lawsuit

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I love craigslist, a lot better then e-bay IMO, and you really can't get scammed on it. CL is a great thing when your actually looking for something that you need. My dad has found several yard tools and machines in great shape and perfect order from there.

Ebay has the advantage of having a far greater reach, but it is way to easy to get scammed, and I really don't like paypal

I've had good luck with craigslist so far (just sold a laptop on there today). But I make sure to meet people at public places, so they don't come rob my house. I've also been lucky so far on ebay, even though that place is a hell-hole, and Paypal is the biggest scam of all...

I like Craigslist. If you deal locally, it's pretty hard to get scammed. I bought my camera from Craigslist.

CL isn't quite as easy to search as ebay, but it still fills a niche. Do they charge for listings or is it all ad-driven?

CL has really cleaned their s**t up compared to where it used to be... with multiple verification steps and a little precaution by the poster, it is about as good as placing an ad in the local newspaper.
I am not sure where their money comes from because I don't see any ads but the postings are free so I wonder if their higher dollar areas require a posting fee or sales fee.

Craigslist makes their money from paid job ads. I read somewhere that their yearly profit is supposedly in the millions
