If they knew it was stalking the damn dog, why didn't they do anything about it? Or if they had no clue, how in the hell do they now know it was 'stalked'?
The snake leave a manifesto or something? Had a restraining order against it?

Stuart Douglas, owner of the Australian Venom Zoo in Kuranda, said scrub pythons typically eat wild animals such as wallabies, a smaller relative of the kangaroo, but sometimes turn to pets in urban areas.

"It actively stalked the dog for a number of days," Douglas said.

"The family that owned the dog had actually seen it in the dog's bed, which was a sign it was out to get it," he added.

"They should have called me then, but (the snake) got away and three or four days later, I was called and went around and removed it" after the dog had been killed, Douglas said.

On a related note, Pythons' behavior is pretty interesting:

Python molurus is a solitary species. Mating is the only time that these snakes are commonly found in pairs. Indian pythons will generally move only when food is scarce or when threatened. They may stalk prey, first locating it by scent or by sensing the body heat of the prey with their heat pits, and then following the trail.

I feel like if your dog is going to get killed by a snake, it might as well be by a PYTHON while you watch.

/one of my dogs got bitten by some lame poisonous snake. :(
