Default Come to my window...

Everyone hears that I grow roses & garden, most have no clue just how bad my addiction is. Hogan isn't without fault here; he can out-buy me at the garden center some days :)

We grow close to 200 roses & thousands of various perennials.

That's mostly from one garden, altho there is another 20+ just in that "walkway" garden. I'll try to find a few house shots so that everyone can see just how rose crazy i am

Wow. Thats a very beautiful garden. My mother has tried to grow roses in the past and has had moderate success. We always get aphids nesting around the buds and the flowers die. She said that spraying it with light soapy water will kill them. Do you know of a solution?

Capper, no cats here; they aren't allowed in my garden either :flame:

Tyreal, I don't spray. I have mantis that when small eat aphids. Either a soapy mixture or a real pesticide.

The bench in pic 2 lives in the back yard. The bench in pic 3 was being redone (new wood / stain). A lot of the roses aren't blooming in these pics; there are roses about every 1 1/2 ft (length) and the same for the width.

The 1st pics I posted came from that hidden bed under the bow window. It holds close to 30 roses alone.

A rose expert! Yes!

This particular bush was salvaged from my wife's grandparents house in Atlanta after her grandfather died. He planted it 18 years ago and it now reside out front where it get's early morning sun, shade the rest of the day after noon:

I want to plant Roses all through my back yard up against the fence. Shaded most of the day, it only sees maybe 2 hours of the afternoon sun. What do you think of plating roses back there Blondie?

Finally, this is the front of the house. I'm thinking of putting in more roses in the same area as the white rose bush. There's already one red rose bush in that area, but I don't know exactly where to put them for the best growth. The 18 year old bush has been doing extremely well where it's located:

That American Flag on the front of my house flew over my Platoon area in Iraq for about three months. Here soon, I'll replace it and hang it in my garage as it's starting to show some fading.

Nice house, looks like one around the corner from here.

Do you know the name of the rose? Looks like a light yellow. Also, do you know what zone you live in?

Does your back yard get sun during the spring? If you you could plant some once bloomers. I do have a few roses that tolerate some shade, but I would have to look others up. My computer is acting up. For some reason I can't access my profile. It gets hung up on Norton. Looking in the admin tools, looks like either the drive is going or the cable. I really need to make time to reformat - probably will tomorrow. Thankfully I can back it up.

the only time roses do well here I found out is if they're surrounded by other shedding plants that shed leaves in our climate... the mother in law has some decent sized ones but doesn't do anything at all and they do fantastic. theres an old creepy looking one in front of her house that it around 10-12 feet tall and only has leaves and roses the last foot or so of each branch. Another few bush types next to the driveway are nice and thick and do very well in full FL sun from sunup to sundown...

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I know nothing to flowers, but sure yours are pretty. =)
I'd have a hard time growing a bean without overwatering it

Nice roses, Sue! I'd hate for you to see what my garden looks like right now (pretty far north, November weather, etc)

My wife just peeked over my shoulder at those pics. Now she's going to going on and on at me all winter about how come I don't plant rose bushes like that for her...
