Very nice score on the new sig. As a regular GIMP user I have one piece of advice for you: layers are your very best friend.

For ease of use, always create the background layer as a transparent layer, then if you want an opaque background, create the first layer the color or pattern you want, then proceed with your creation.

I've found this sequence of events prevents a lot of frustration down the road.

P.S. I'm a huge fan (fanboi anyone?) of the GIMP.

I like it because it's free.

But, yes, it's a great tool. Thanks for more tips.

Lookin' good so far Nate!
I've gotten too used to Photoshop that I actually have a hard time in GIMP. Someday I would like to learn how to harness its power, but for now I'm a hopeless slave to Photoshop CS2.

Not too bad at all man, especially for one of your first major products. The avatar could definitely use some work, a lot more than the sig needs. If you ever need any tips don't hesitate to ask. I can shoot out some great little tips on the little things that make the whole thing look that much better (I'm probably gonna start a thread of this), and a lot more too!

Nice job. This inspires me to learn to use The Gimp for doing more than resizing and cropping.
