camping, beer gardens, and rap shows?

Well I took the weekend off with two of my good friends to go camping in the North Carolina mountains. After a million hour drive we got to our campsite at 2am. Our first task was to get the fires going (if you understand the vernacular) and get the tent set up.



Our first campfire was crappy because all of the wood was wet, but we got smart the next day and just drove around and picked up dry wood from the side of the road! Then we learned the fine art of cooking breakfast on a fire:



mmmmm, bacon egg and toaast!


And keeping the beer cold by leaving it in the river worked better then we could have hoped for:




Then we began a 4 mile hike to a waterfall, which was cut short when I fell in the river shortly after this photo:

Then we checked out this really cool old-school hydro-electric dam right on the NC/Tn border:


The next day we drove to Asheville. We only meant to stop for a bite to eat but we got lost and found a Beer Garden! This place had like 200-300 beers, many of them on tap.



I ended up getting really drunk off of Original Sin Hard Cider.

We finally sobered up and made it back to I40 and proceeded to Chapel Hill for the Dead Prez show:

Anyways, yea the NC mountains are awesome. We used to have a cabin up there when we lived in Charlotte, we would go there once in the summer and then once in the winter.
