SAN FRANCISCO -- A cool and impeccably tailored Barry Bonds waded through a sea of television cameras and chanting supporters Friday as he made his first court appearance since being charged with lying under oath about using steroids.
Bonds' new lawyer entered a not guilty plea in U.S. District Court to the four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice contained in the Nov. 15 indictment against Major League Baseball's newly minted home run king. Legal experts say he could spend up to 2½ years in prison if convicted.

AN FRANCISCO — Barry Bonds tested positive for steroids in November 2001 — a month after hitting his record 73rd home run of the season, Reuters reported.
"At trial, the government's evidence will show that Bonds received steroids from Anderson in the period before the November 2001 positive drug test, and that evidence raises the inference that Anderson gave Bonds the steroids that caused him to test positive in November 2001," U.S. Attorney Joseph Russoniello wrote in a legal filing, according to Reuters.
Bonds, a free agent, has pleaded not guilty to four charges of perjury and one count of obstruction.

LOL - I watched the Clemens/Congress hoopla the other afternoon on ESPN and found it amusing that for a good 5 minutes or so, they talked about his 'buttocks.'

you know i find it hilarious they going after all these stars when the actual suppliers and distributors get 4 months probation and like a slap on the wrist. Talk about grandstanding prosecutors -_-;;
