Best Buy sued for 54 million

A woman has sued Best Buy for 54 million after they lost her laptop with her tax papers and other private data and then lied about it for months saying it was being repaired.

as a consumer in the same position, i would be just as pissed as that lady. they were lying to her face and trying to cover up a mistake. sounds like bad management to me.

OT: i was at best buy a couple of weeks ago and asked one of the guys at the geek squad desk what type of training/certs you needed to have for the position. the guy said, "None, you get on-the-job training." wow

its a shame it takes something like this to wake up the giant corporations to consumers. i guess they think the old adage the customer is always right doesnt apply to them anymore.

best buy really sucks!!! those geek squad they are pretty girls but when one costumer are looking for a decent VC for COD4 or Crysis [i cant remember exactly] they handed her 8400gs with her telling them the specific machine is pre-fab Dell Machine, i really pity the man that she might be ending up buying something that might not work with her machine so i butt in and told him that 8400gs wont cut in long run and that Dell Machines are really picky adding to that she also told me that Computer is a year old which i also told her that it would be best to get Dell in the phone and find out first more so she got a warranty on it... BestBuy GeekSquad i think is bogus...

Umm, anyone who has read my furious rants knows that I don't go to Best Buy, ever......at all..... ever.........

and this will hopefully make other people feel the same way.


Although 54 million..... what the hell. That's WAYYYY too much. 10-20 would do it. Although I greatly appreciate what she is doing, because after reading what best buy did to her, she deserves to win. Plain and simple.

I figure she will settle outof court for half the amount plus a new $5000 alienware laptop (which she will break a few months down the road because if shes dumb enough to take it to BB then she is dumb enough to not know how to take care of the equipment she buys).

More or less enough to shut her up and never speak of this again

I doubt she gets that much. I don't blame her for taking a laptop in for repair their a lot more trouble than a desk top. Best Buy will probably get out of this for less than 50 g.
