ESPN - BCS at-large pool could expand from 14 to 18 - College Football

They already ruined the traditional bowl games, they may as well just go to playoff system now... and make it where they have to win their bowl game to be eligible...

The bowl system is one reason why college football is a joke as far as a championship but there's so much money generated by it that they will never get rid of it and even if they put the 2 highest ranked winners of bowl games in a playoff it still doesn't mean their the best teams without having a real playoff like the NFL. Except the NFL lets cheaters make it to the playoffs.

They already put the 2 highest ranked in a championship game (just not winners of bowl games) ... Bowls do make lots of money. And they allow for MANY teams to have a post-season, which is why I would never suggest eliminating them. But they already ruined the tradition of the bowl games with this BCS crap. Like how the big10 and pac10 champs would always play each other in the rose bowl. Now, if one of those conference champs are #1 or 2 in the nation, they play in the BCS championship, not necessarily the Rose Bowl...

I would say go back to traditional bowl games, then take the top 8 or 16 ranked teams (or even do a committee like they do for basketball) and put them in a regular playoff.

College sports is a huge sham....they expect kids to scrape by, and punish them if they get support from boosters, etc.....but they have no problem taking millions for bowl games or endorsements from companies like Nike......
