wow, i didn't expect that... since the calf was still alive, i wonder if it was calling for help and that's what got the herd to react like that. every national geographic show i've ever seen always showed the buffalo running away and never coming back for the one that goes down.

Ah, Democracy at it's best!

I'm not sure if I'm happy the calf got away from the Buffalo's standing up for their own, or sad that the lions didn't get to be fed. Neat either way.

And the random, yet expected comment of "Can I help it?" No...

I'm thinking that calf didn't make it, died, lions are hungry, and the Jackals and vultures ate it's rotting carcass. So no one cute really won. After all, we only help cute animals.
