Default Asteroid coming close.. but will miss

Asteroid to Make Near Miss of Earth Next Week

it will be about 1.4-1.5 times farther away than our own moon at its closest pass... would be interesting to see if something like this could get caught in our gravity and we get a second satellite/moon...

Quote:
The asteroid makes its closest approach to Earth, 334,000 miles (537,500 kilometers), at 3:33 a.m. Eastern time (12:33 a.m. Pacific time). For comparison, the moon is an average of 239,228 miles (385,000 kilometers) away.

Like other asteroids, this one orbits the sun. Most do so in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. NASA pays particular attention to those whose orbits bring them so close to Earth.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Yes.....because we all know it'd be easier to teach oil drillers how to be astronauts than
it would be to teach astronauts how to drill.....

Actually, I loved that movie.

Amen to that Capper. I know im not the only one who was like "damn i wanna fly the X-71 Shuttle." Then again im a sucker for these space movies, Apollo 13 is still one of my all-time favorite movie. Hopefully with Universal Studio's exclusivity with HD-DVD not renewed, I can get it for Blu-Ray =D

Hmmm. So now we know why a Humanoid life form was spotted on Mars.

He's there to watch the show, eating popcorn.
