The Army has me on orders again...

To Korea. Have a report date of 10 OCT 08.

They can't send me to a combat zone, so this is their answer. Looks like I will spend at least 21 years in the service now. Since they put me on orders prior to my hitting 19 years, 27 April 08 is my 19th year, I have to do this tour of duty. It's either that or get myself medically boarded out of the Army. Right now, I'm still having enough medical issues that were I to do that, I would be homeless from all the doctors appointments and such. Hard to hold down a civilian job if you have 4-5 Doctor's appointments every two weeks. Plus, I'm still having the headaches although, they aren't as frequent now.

I don't know yet what my return assignment is. I will try like hell to get back to Fort Rucker since this is where our retirement home is. If not, I will retire out of Korea.

Will let you guys know more as I find out more.

Damn dude, that sucks. Which part of Korea is it going to be? Apparently there is some really cool stuff there, so it might not completely suck. From what I understand it's a fairly tech savvy nation.

It currently says Camp Humphreys, which is located in a city called Anjung-Ri.

I'm not completely against going to Korea. There are worse places to get stationed. It's where the Army will want to send me on the way back that worries me. I do dread the move over there though.

@Dread....due to strength management, the last two guys who tried that had their retirement orders declined until they returned from assignment.

Korea isn't bad, I actually enjoyed it. Humphreys is in a nice area, it's down by Osan Air Base. It will probably be a nice little break for you. Spend some time with the juciy girls.

Not that anything should make sense to me and this doesn't make sense. You are comming up on 19 years and looking at 20 for retirement. You have multiple health issues all service connected. You seem to require somewhat regular medical care. Now all things considered where is the merit (or logic) to sending you to Korea at this point in time?

Maybe that is why during all my service years and subsequent DoD years I never really tried too hard to see or understand the logic to what they did. Maybe because there was none?
