Arrow Albertains elect 11th straight Tory majority

It was never in doubt that the Conservatives would win their 11st straight majority government, and the only question was how many seats would they win.

The results were kind of shocking to me: 73 Conservatives, 8 Liberals, 2 NDP, 0 Green (yay!) and 0 Wildrose Alliance(). The Conservatives also swept most of the Edmonton seats (15/20), most of the seats in Calgary (19/23), swept both Medicine Hat and Red Deer (1/1 and 2/2), took half of Lethbridge, and swept the rural ridings. They also got 51% of the vote, and 41% of the eligible voters cast a ballot.

I would have voted for the Wildrose Alliance, but my dad didn't have time to taking me to the voting station and back to work before he had to start.

As far as I can see, this is not only a decisive victory for the Conservatives, but also for their leader, Ed Stelmach, who was elected leader back in October. People were saying that if he didn't win more than 50 seats for his party, his leadership would be on the line. Looks like no PC leadership review will be coming up soon!

I would have been spam_swatter31 on Yahoo. I don't play gin, but I do play poker from time to time (Texas Hold'em).

And no, people consider that to be low. It's better than federal elections, where only 30% tend to vote, and municipal elections tend to be higher than provincial elections.

I play on PokerStars (free only, and usually no limit) and I have a game called Poker Superstars II, which puts me up against AI players who play like real life players.
