| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Hey Folks, HardwareLogic needs your help! You're thinking, "Oh lucky day, this is a dream come true! But I lack super powers, so what can I possible do to help???" All we ask is that you consider disabling ad blocking software on HardwareLogic and our forums. Wait, wait wait, come back! I know you all hate ads (except for Joker, he keeps requesting Cialisis banners), and for the 99% running Firefox, the Ad Blocker Plus extension is one of the first to get installed. But by not blocking our ads, we're able to continue all of our neat giveaways and remain a unique presence in the online community. One of the things that separates HardwareLogic from the pack is the amount of goodies we give away on a monthly basis. This includes the Forum Member of the Month, Forum Member of the Year (in which we give away an entire PC), and random odds and ends to help members in need. While these usually consist of review samples, they also come from out of pocket, and the shipping costs is always absorbed by Capper. Combined with the server expense and purchasing test hardware (we keep our test benches current), it gets pretty pricey running the site, and advertising helps to partially offset this. We're bringing this to your attention not because HardwareLogic is in danger of going anywhere or having to mortgage Capper's 8-story mansion, but because we've seen our ad revenue drop roughly 50% despite continue growth in site traffic. If nothing else, please consider enabling the Google Ads, which are calculated based on page impressions. These ads aren't going to buy me or anyone else on staff a much deserved sports car, but it will help us to continue giving away neat swag. That is all! ![]() |

| Is add revenue only generated when the ad is viewed, or only if an ad is clicked? If its only generated when its clicked, I'll make sure to click the occasional ad that gets my interest. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Clicking the Google Ads certainly help, but we're also compensated based on page impressions, which is every time the page containing the ad is loaded. |

Good thing the ads on HL are actually relevant to computers, compared to some other sites. Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 Last edited by Jokerswild; June 26th, 2007 at 03:59. | |

| I do use AdBlock+, but I only enable it on sites that go overdose on ads, have popup ads or have those stupid intellitext stuff. HL has been green since I joined. |

| I just noticed this but all of the boxes that say "ads by google" are blank. There are no ads in the boxes. I see every one of Newegg's ads though. Anyone else see this? Ad revenue is generated both ways, by impressions and by click throughs. I'm not asking everyone to click on the ads, except the Newegg ads when you are shopping or pricing hardware, but try not to use ad block on the site. A good example, this is easily our busiest month ever, yet our ad revenue is down from $150 to $83. | Yea, a good idea that I did was to click on the NewEgg link and set it in my Favs, so when ever I go to Newegg in my favs, it was like I just clicked on the ad. True, right? E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB |
