| Colonel Calamity | The 1966 Volvo with 2.6 millions miles is gasoline... but the VW with 560K+ miles was diesel, the dodge 3500 is diesel, not sure if the saab is but I assume so since it was a turbo model and most of their turbo models back then were diesel... This particular Chevy is gasoline, not diesel... diesels always have a much higher life expectancy so it is great seeing gasoline engines get these high mileage awards as well ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | The Saab was a gasoline engine. Anyways, its doesn't matter that the engine lasts longer, its the car around the engine. Whens the last time you've seen a dodge transmission last 1 million miles (except maybe an old 727).Most people throw out cars usually if they hit a massive transmission failure, or the car just rots away, in most cases the engine is the last thing to go :-/ But yeah, a good built gasser car can do quite a few miles. | Colonel Calamity | very true, I have seen all sorts of miles from different vehicles I have owned... 200K+ with a 1979 chevy Luv (with Isuzu 4cyl engine) 180K miles with 1989 Olds Cutlass Ciera 4cyl 210K with a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder with 2.5L V6 300K with 1975 Chevy 1500 pickup 350 V8 164K miles with my current 1991 Chevy suburban with 454 V8 The lowest mileage vehicle I have ever owned was our 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that had 40K miles when we bought it and sold it at 81K miles 2 years later ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
