Those LED lightbulbs are mega expensive by the way. They're apparently worth it, but still quite expensive.

I've seen LED lighting like that, and it cannot really compare at all to a good set of florescent lights in terms of cost and complexity. White LEDs also have a nasty habit of having some of the shortest lift spans of LEDs, I think its actually comparable with florescents. The white LEDs don't just stop making light, but over time, they start to dim, and produce a more yellow light.

I would assume a typical household replacement would be only a few dollars, much cheaper than the efficient but deadly Fluorescent Light Bulbs.

Wow, good reading screwball. While logical, I gotta say I didn't think for a second that those things contained mercury and they could prove to be dangerous. I would have probably just vacuumed it myself if one broke! I'll warn the dad and the mom, wouldn't want something bad to happen.

This I didn't know. So what would be an effective cleanup process for when one breaks, mop instead of sweep, or wet the carpet before vacuuming? No way I'd be able to dosh out 2k everytime one snaps.

Even standard Flourescent tubes contain trace amounts of mercury.

Yes, they are quite expensive! About $25 - $50 for a single bulb. Still, they claim a 60,000 hour lifespan, that's about 7.8 years of continuous use while using nearly 90% less energy than an incandescent bulb.
