Default what notebook

i need a notebook... one that can play most games, and do some intense dvd burning, and some graphic editing, this is the catch, must be under 1K

anyone i look at alienware.com Alienware: Sentia m3450 Notebook - Learn More!
kinda love it but it will take 1300+ just to get the config i want...

any other suggestions... I'll basically need for my review first then my after review fragfest...

it only has integrated graphics so heavy gaming is pretty much out of the equation although you should be able to play some older games at lower settings. if you want a gaming laptop, look for something with a 7600/X1600 series or higher

I would seriously reconsider buying anything made by Dell or Alienware, espeically notebooks. You are basically paying for the name and bragging rights, nothing else.

I would highly suggest that you take a look at what HP has to offer. I have been researching laptops for about two months now, and have discovered that HP is the best bang for the buck out there. It is also worth noting that as long as you are a student in an accredited educational institution, HP offers an instant savings of $100 or so off any desktop or laptop you buy. The program is called Academic Purchase Program or APP.

Here is the HL thread that I started when I was (and still am) looking at purchasing a laptop
