| I say hell with the 680Sli and get the new Asus Commando 965 board due out Q1 2007. ![]() I'm considering buying it, as this P5W DH tops at 400FSB and this little E6400 has 3.6GHz in it in I know it because it's been there on my DS3. This Commando board, Asus Engineers had it to 2200MHz FSB with no mods. The 965 has been reinforced for Kentsfield. Intel MAtrix RAID ect. Then run the R600 Crossfire which is going to spank 8800GTX. ATI all the way. EDIT: Oh and any ultimate pc needs to be outfitted with Raptors at a minimum. 15K SCSI if you really have money to burn. | If I used Raptors or SCSI, then it wouldn't be the ultimate in storage - 1.2TB to 3.0TB, unless I used 10 HDs! And that's not likely...in any case! ![]() |

| You need raster RAM get the Corsair Dominator memory. Then add 4 WD Raptors. ![]() The greatest proof that intelligent life exists is the fact that they haven't tried to contact us yet. |

| Functional Alcoholic | I would ditch those Asus Video Cards and go with either XFX, eVGA or BFG cards. Something tells me this isn't a real computer, just one you wish you could buy. So I would keep the 4 SG 750GB drives and add 2 WD 150gb Raptors. Polo, its an "Ultimate PC" it needs Plextor. raster RAM, is that for you Scooby Doo PC? |

| I'm Evil | I'm not a Plextor fan at all. I have had three of their drives over the past two years, and all three were RMA'd multiple times. NEC drives work just as well, for a fraction of the price. Doesn't matter if its his dream computer or one he intends to build tomorrow, things like this always stimulate good conversation INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| Modder-ator | Yeah, that RAM is way out of place. CAS 4 DDR2-800 is a common choice for even mid-range builds... And even if this was for a dream computer, I still don't think I could bring myself to do two 8800GTX's in SLI, one should be enough. And I don't see why you would ever possibly need four 750GB HDD's, that's bordering on just plain rediculousness. One should be more than enough for any desktop user; maybe two if you are a DVD freak and don't compress anything. And if you're doing it, you might as well go with XP Pro instead of Home. Same with getting the low end X-Fi; forget the Xtreme music and just go for the Platinum! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! ![]() |

A few years ago (2001/2002 I believe) Plextor had a batch of bad drives, but since then they have been pretty good. I don't normally recommend Plextor drives because they are so much more expensive then other similar drives on the market, but If you can afford them I would suggest them. | |
