Default screen ripple?

I just upgraded my graphics card from a XFX8500 to a sweet EVGA superclocked 8800 GTS and it kicks some serious butt. I am however experiencing a I guess I would call it a ripple on screen occassionally when the desktop or simple windows are open. It doesn't happen when I'm playing (Oblivion for now) that I can tell. My thoughts turn to power, but not sure.

New rig:
Antec900 case
Rosewill 500W PSU
MSI P6N platinum 650i sli mobo

Q6600 processor
6GB Corsair xms DDR2 800 RAM
EVGA 8800GTS superclocked 320 MB GPU
160GB Maxtor hdd
250GB Maxtor hdd
750GB Seagate hdd
Lite-on DVD burner
windows vista home premium 64bit
Samsung 20" widescreen LCD

do you have a CRT? are there any speakers or desk fans near it?
If it is LCD then it is liekly that over the card... check over the settings like Vertical Sync and such.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I've never really liked Rosewill PSU's and AFAIK, their reputation as a budget PSU maker that uses budget parts still stands. If you continue to have issues after checking things like current drivers and the other things pointed out here, a PSU issue may be present. Can you give us the exact model number for that PSU?

Rosewill RP500-2. I had planned to upgrade the power and graphics at the same time in the future, but the 512MB 8500 graphics card I bought at the initial build just wasn't doing it for me. As far as drivers go I got the one for 64 bit vista from EVGA's website this weekend when I installed the 8800 card.

Here's one hell of a nice deal.

Antec NeoHE 550W for $59 after MIR.

Hmmm, I just got through reading the customer reviews. Typically, I try not to judge most components from these relies as half the folks are so lost, they have no idea what they're talking about. But this has a lot of negative feedback.

I have a Neo2 HE 550W here that went through a tornado, traveled three yards over for crying out loud, and it still works great. I have a 450W draw on it right now and no issues or low voltage.

i'll have to oppose to you Quak, i have two build that resulted from that specific Antec NeoHE 550W, it cost me a lot of money with the RMA proccess, it fryed those two build of mine, it have some sort of fluctuation in supplying power to components which i suspect the loose molex modular connections in two of my build, i just stopped with RMA process after a couple of exchange, this happened precisely after 3-4 months of use... although, the newer Neo2 i havnt have experience with, i've been using Antec Trio Power 500W for the past 9-10 months without a hitch, with the other build we are using SmartPower 2.0 450Watts that came with Sonata II....
