| Many of you know me from MaximumPC, and most of you also know I was a Merchandising Manager at CompUSA. Right before I decided to leave, I got my brother a position at the same store as a Customer Services Supervisor. He called my cell today saying that CompUSA is closing about 1/2 of their retail stores by April 30, 2007. Expect some liquidation sales to start popping up, especially with HE items. Please - this is not to be a flame-fest of any sort. | Thanks SC64! I will be lurking around the local CompUSA. I dunno though as the local store is in Beachwood, Ohio and my overall take is that store does well. However, thanks for the heads up! Ron |

| I knew they would keep the one here open since there's only one and it's always busy. I'm sure a lot of the big brick and mortar stores are feeling the pinch of lost in store sales because of online shopping. Makes sense to close some. |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Its a tough market. Not only do you have boutiques like Puget systems, Cyber Power, Dell, Falcon, etc stealing customers, those who actually use tech components are usually adept at shopping online, and see a huge benefit in buying from places like Newegg, ZZF, etc......this is one industry where the brick and mortar stores are in real danger of extinction. | Colonel Calamity | No but keep an eye out because once they close them, they will likely ship the left over inventory to other stores for reduced prices and clearance deals ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |
