| Everything looks good except for the graphics card. The 8800GTX is a power hungry monstrosity, and without actual DX10 games being out yet, its hard to justify the purchase. I would grab an ATi X1950XT for now, and jump on the DX10 train in about a year or so ![]() Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL! | Modder-ator | Judging by your video card choice, is it safe to assume you will be doing a lot of gaming with this machine? What resolution is your monitor? Unless you are running at least 1920x1200, the 8800GTX is a little over the top for right now. Like Panda Man said, you might be better off saving some money by getting an X1950XT or something similar now and then upgrading it to a more efficient card later on when there is more of a need. And you could get away with a 600W PSU instead of that 700W monster. Then take the money you saved on the video card and PSU and invest it into a nice set of 5.1 surround sound computer speakers like the Logitech X-5500 or Klipsch ProMedia and take advantage of that X-Fi sound card ![]() Last edited by gvblake22; January 15th, 2007 at 13:34. |

| Just get a cheap vid card as the R600 is coming soon and the other half of the 8000 series (8300s and 8600) are coming sometime in February. If you are really hard pressed for gpu power check out the comparison of $ to FPS in this article, granted its not comparing much, but it still proves a decent point. I think i read somewhere that the 8800GTS was a better bang for the buck compared to the GTX version, and still allowed for SLI, if one so chose to in the future when more DX10 games are available.
