Default Raid set-up

I am building the computer in my sig . First time i have ever set up a RAID. Following the directions in my motherboards guide it said to hit ctrl+i during post which i did and set-up up the Raid which i did in a RAID 0. Once that is done the guide said to create a RAID driver disk. Shouldn't the disk that came with the motherboard already have the RAID drivers on it or do i need to make one? Also if i configured the RAID already why do i need the drivers? Thanks for any help with this.

No disk needed if running vista. Just load the vista CD and she will install. Driver disk are for XP.

I will second that and know it is true for your board as I just did a build with that same board for the wife. The disk they refer to is a floppy which I did create and never needed.

Vista install was flawless. I gave her a pair of RAID1 arrays.

lol just what I was thinking. Any x38 board sounds a bit overkill for a wife, but a Maximus Formula? Might as well grab a Maximum Extreme and 4GB of highly priced DDR3. :P

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

Yeah, maybe a tad of overkill there, considering the games she enjoys are MSN Gamehouse type games. I was going to use a high end Intel board till I saw the cost of DDR3. I wanted the Intel chipset and the board was available so I took it. Installed 4 GB of Corsair DDR2 and Vista Ultimate and things went great.

I never skimp when I build for the household. Overall the board worked out great. My only bitch was they used 90 degree SATA ports which are fully forward on the board. Once the board was installed in an Antec 190 case connecting the SATA cables was tight. Would have been wise to connect and label the SATA cables first.
