Keep it dust-free and reinstall Windows every 1-2 years; keeps it fresh that way.

And congrats on the new build!

I never wait more than 6 months between reformats (clean wipe then Windows). I'd recommend 6-12 months for cleanings, NO more than that.

And the dust thing - great call YH.

Also, remove and throughly clean the heatsink every 3-9 months - that helps the thermal paste reintroduce itself and keeps steady temps which is healthier for the life of the cpu.

Defrag often. You might consider using a program like PerfectDisk, O&O Defrag, or Diskeeper (personal favourite). Also check out CCleaner which is my favourite program for cleaning out the disk and registry. Don't forget your spyware program, I like Spybot Search and destroy. And last but not least, antivirus. I'm currently using Avast! I've used Kaspersky, AVG, Norton, NOD32, and Antivir in the past. Kaspersky was my favourite out of all of them.

I'm using AVG "Free Edition" right now, and I like it a lot. I would even go as far as to say it's better than McAfee, which costs money...
