| T-Rex | I didn't test this board myself, but i've built a few computer with the M2NPV-VM and it's a great little mobo. I'm not too sure if it's really worth it to buy a 7300LE. It barely packs more punch than the onboard video. =| If you're intending to play games it's not really worth it. I'd spend an extra $25.00 to get at least a 7300GT, which is almost 2 times more powerful than the 7300LE. By the way, the onboard DVI is great. I didn't think it would be that great when I built my first computer with it but I was seriously impressed. There's little to no difference between this onboard DVI and a 3D card DVI. As for the hard drive, you can get quite a better hard drive for the same price more or less. And 40GB more on top of that. 8MB buffer, SATA 3GB, 160GB. $3.00 over. Western Digital http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144415 Seagate 7200.9 (not old like 7200.7) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148149 The case itself looks fine, not alot of ventilation but you're not exactly building a power house there so I think it's enough. Cheers |

| I'm dropping the HDD completely. I'm going to use the 400GB Barracuda from this PC. As for the graphics, I might take your advice in upgrading, but I'm sure I wouldn't even be able to find decent drivers for the onboard for Linux. The drivers is one of the major reasons I chose the nVidia GPU. |

| Functional Alcoholic | I agree with Polo, there is no point buying that VC. The onboard will be fine until you can afford a better card. I would consider changing cases. Cheap cases suck even if its a cheap build. Consider this case. Its a great price from a good company. I know you plan on building several computers over the next few years. Why not buy the case you really want and skimp on other parts. That way you only have to buy a case once. |

| uhh, get a better HDD like polo said. seagate 7200.9 is great. I also agree with polo with the 7300GT. Much better graphics card. Make sure if you buy the 7300GT that it is 128bit and not 64bit. If you want a spend a bit more money, then the 7600GS is the way to go. | So here's the current parts list, assuming I keep my 400GB Barracuda for the new build: Antec LifeStyle SONATA II Piano Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450Watt SmartPower 2.0 ATX 12V V2.0 for AMD & Intel systems Power Supply - Retail - $99.99 LITE-ON Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 24X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache IDE DVD Burner - OEM (Either this or the Asus, depending on how the free shipping works out when I order) - $28.99 Corsair VS1GB667D2 1GB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 Value Select Memory Retail (I normally wouldn't go with value RAM, but I hope to replace it with a 2GB kit not too far down the road) - $101.40 eVGA 256-P2-N443-LX GeForce 7300GT 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail - $69.99 GIGABYTE GA-M55SLI-S4 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail - $82.99 AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+(65W) Windsor 2.0GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail - $157.99 Total: $541.35 That seems a little bit more than I wanted to spend, but I really don't want to go with any lesser parts than this. I'm going to talk it over with my dad and see what he thinks. *fingers crossed* LOL |
