Default New Build

I am doing a $2000 build (including all new peripherals). Here is what I came up with:

List along with Proccessor and Video Card

Not a bad build at all.....I'd change the case and PSU, but other than that hard to argue with your choices.

INTEL QX9650
ASUS Maximus Extreme
4GB DDR3-1600
Sapphire HD 3870X2
Danger Den Torture Rack (Custom W/C)
Seagate 750GB HDD
BFG ES 800W PSU

If your doing a little overclocking then you might want to get your q6600 from Tankguys and be assured of getting the G0 stepping.

I've got the same psu and dvd burner....after about 2 months, no problems out of either so far.

Antec 900
Q6600, GO stepping, 3.21 MHz
P5w DH Deluxe
Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro 512mb
2 Gb OCZ platinum revision 2 DDR2 6400 800hz OC to 892mhz
Lapped Zalman 9700 nt
150gb raptor
320gb seagate
PC Power & Cooling 750w PSU
(2) lite-on 20x dvd burners
22 inch HP w2207 monitor.

I most definitely recommend a a Silverstone or OCZ PSU over the Thermaltake one you've got there. Also, I'd get OCZ Platinum Revision 2 XTC RAM or Crucial Ballistix RAM over the Corsair XMS2. I like the case choice and pretty much everything else. The only thing I'd consider changing also is the cooler. Not that the 9700 is bad, there are just better ones like the V1 or the CM GeminII. Or the Thermalright Ultra if you can find it.

I'm running a B3 stepping on the test bench right now, and its doing 3.375GHz without any real issue.

The stepping issue is something I'd say is a little overrated.....many people assume the G0 is a better stepping because of the lower voltage and heat generation, but in all honesty, the results, with a few exceptions, have been about the same.

Considering your build, I'd look at corsair's HX620, which is perfect for what you have assembled, and possibly the ANTEC 900 for the case.

INTEL QX9650
ASUS Maximus Extreme
4GB DDR3-1600
Sapphire HD 3870X2
Danger Den Torture Rack (Custom W/C)
Seagate 750GB HDD
BFG ES 800W PSU

I was originally going to get the 900, but I really don't like the way it looks. I'm not crazy for lights as I used to be and I really like the look of the P182.

The problem with that case is it's extremely poor cooling. Especially with your system and the heat it will generate.......and if you plan on doing any sort of overclocking, you'll run into some serious cooling issues.

So any other suggestions other than the 900? I am also not a fan of that top I/O panel.

Its a fantastic case, and along with Silverstone's TJ-09, a very good alternative to the current selection you have listed.
