after 1 month of wait and pondering, i finally got the money from my brother to start his computer and upgrade mine...

this is what happened he gave me $700 and i chip in a couple of dollars to the money bank for the build and came up with the following config to build:

OCing Guide on DS3 and 975xbx!!!

hmmm ok overclocking on the DS3, go to the last section on the left, change the cpu fsb to the higher amount and the divider to something like 2.0 and let her run... thats pretty much all there is to it...

based on the items going in, I would swap the mobos but thats just me... other than that it all looks good (especially the 32" plasma lol )

hmmm???? Intel D975XBX is better than the DS3???
i find the D975XBX a little difficult to manipulate when i tried to OC it. its is really an annoying piece of Mobo, a little complicated for my taste.....

the Plasma TV is a 2 year old gift from my wife when we where still engaged... i hook it up using DVI -HDMI converter, plus NVidia Underscan option...

I wouldn't say the XBX is better than the DS3.....you'll find opinions leaning both ways. If you are wanting to OC, and are not interested in RAID or Crossfire, the DS3 is a good choice as it is a great overclocking board. The XBX is a typical INTEL board, great features, excellent stability.....

we will have our first wedding anniversary this april. and our third anniversary of being together this coming December...

i think i'll use the DS3 for now and if in near future i need an upgrade or find an itch to go SLI/Crossfire, i'll just save money and buy new board...

to be honest capper i had very bad expeirience with this D975xBX board, it shutdown a couple of time, and if a single dust go between the capacitor can cause me comp like a grating sound... so i end up cleaning every week which is a pain with my CM Ammo due to its screens...

but what i'm loving is the 8800gts... btw thanks Cap, i can't imagine i was able to stick to a relationship that long...
back then i would get bored at the 9 month and i would break up with my gf... now i'm married ...

man, can't wait for tomorrow UPS delivery... can't wait to show off my new build for my bro...
