Default Mounting a 2.5" HD?

I've obtained a 160GB 5400RPM SATA HD for free from an Acer laptop we had at work that was marked for destruction (it was literally written on top... it said "Send for Destruction"). So yay, free 160GB HD. And in due time, I needed a much bigger HD.

I've already formatted it and stuff to a single partition (Acer is retarded you know... they have two 70GB partitions and one 9GB EISA partition which Vista Disk Management can't remove - used my own method for that). But, here's the weird part... It's mounted using rubberbands.... hehe.

My Dell case is quite interesting. The hard drives are mounted upside down and the hard drives are attached to a plastic thing that slides into the second hard drive slot. Well, I just used two small rubber bands to attach the hard drive to the plastic...

Is it OK (for a while) or should I evade it at all costs? Do I just buy something like this do it?

As long as they are stout rubber bands you should be o.k.
I wouldn't be moving the system around a lot though.

DO NOT USE RUBBER BANDS! Rubber bands will quickly become brittle in the dry heat of a computer case, causing them to crack and break. Rubber bands are NOT durable AT ALL, so do not use them to hold anything important. I don't even bother to use them for wire management purposes they are so unreliable, you'll definitely want to replace that mounting system with something more reliable ASAP. Here's a quick look at something you could try for mounting a HDD in a larger bay. Otherwise you could use that product you linked to. But whatever you do, ditch those rubber bands, even if it is for zip ties or string!

Hey, I like that zip tie idea.... Sad part is I have to mount the HD to plastic thing that slides into the HD slot.

Plus, it's a 2.5". And what makes it worse. The only other SATA power connector is next to the default HD. I need to find that SATA power adapter....

I think string is an option.... I'm sure i could manage a zip tie method. Pics will be up of the current setup in a bit.... when I'm not lazy.

EDIT: Turns out the SATA connector does most of the holding anyways. So I might as well zip tie it.

To the pics!!!

OK, forget pics.

I killed the rubber bands (they weren't that big) and tried making it work with the three zip ties I had... didn't work.

It's sitting on a tape case now. I need to buy that adapter soon.
