| Microsoft space Telescope is now available DailyTech - Microsoft WorldWide Telescope Beta Now Available Quote:
Bill Gates said in a statement, “The WorldWide Telescope is a powerful tool for science and education that makes it possible for everyone to explore the universe," said Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft. "By combining terabytes of incredible imagery and data with easy-to-use software for viewing and moving through all that information, the WorldWide Telescope opens the door to new ways to see and experience the wonders of space. Our hope is that it will inspire young people to explore astronomy and science, and help researchers in their quest to better understand the universe."
I have spent a little time playing with the application and it is very entertaining. The WorldWide Telescope is well described when it is compared to Google Earth for the heavens. When you start the application you can begin exploring the universe in a full composite that shows images taken from many different telescopes in one large mosaic.
This mosaic of different types of telescopic imagery allows you to first view things in visible light and then as you zoom in closer to objects the visible telescope images will give way to X-ray and radio wave telescopes allowing you to see through dust of nebulas and get a glimpse at the center of our universe and more.
