Default July Build - silent, cool but powerful theme

Hi, im planning a build which will take place in july since thats when ill have saved enough money to go through with it heres my current list..

N.B. the graphic card choice is temporary to keep the build around £700
I plan to add an EVGA AKIMBO stock 8800 GT (which makes me wonder about the psu) and i have no idea for which cooler to use

Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5, £164.49
512MB Sapphire HD2600PRO, £40.48
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 SLACR, £140.87
520W Corsair HX Series Modular PSU, £65.55
LiteOn LH-20A1L-14C DVD Burner, SATA, £22.67
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream VA3000BWA, £72.72
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, £58.62
750 GB Seagate ST3750330AS Barracuda 7200.11, £91.64
2GB Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500 (1066), £46.82

The total price of all this is: £716.55

Any suggestions are wellcomed with open arms lol

for the cooling, it helps to take a look at the reviews that we have done to start with

HardwareLogic

I myself love this Thermaltake Big Typhoon but there are other very worthy CPU coolers out there.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

That corsair should be plenty good... I've seen a corsair 450w handle crossfired 1850xt's coupled with 4 gigs of ddr and an opteron without blinking an eye... i wouldn't be surprised if your build uses less power than that one did.

For the cooler, check out the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme. It's at the top of the heap as far as air coolers go, but you'll need to buy a fan to go along with it (is does not come with a fan). Yate Loon fans are a great choice because they are cheap and quiet.

Silverstone Decathlon 650W
Western Digital 250GB SATA II

CPU -> Q9450. By July prices should have went down a fair bit on them.
If you can't afford the Q9450 in July, you might be interested in the Q9300.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

You might want to check out this LGA 775 Cooler mega test for all your cooling needs
HEXUS.net - Review :: LGA 775 CPU Cooler Mega Test : Page - 119/120

Also, I think the budget for your motherboard is a little steep for that build.

Check out eBuyer.com It has some of the lowest PC component prices on the net and delivery is free on all orders over £50

here in the UK aria has some awesome prices on the 45nm chips, but delevery is more expencive than scan. Aria. The E8400 is about £40 cheaper which is ace. Unfortunately their customer service is pretty bad. I was on hold for nealy an hour once.

That's normal pricing for E8400, it's just that many american e-tailers are charging too much for them. Got mine for 218 canadian + 2 games a month ago, could have got it for 200 but I was too lazy to drive down there. :P
