Default Intel Price drop?

I thought the Intel price drops were supposed to take place like two days ago? Or did I get the date wrong?

I need to buy a motherboard, CPU, and now memory from NewEgg. Currently, it's setup as a X2 3800+, Biostar nVidia 7025 chipset ATX mobo, and Corsair VS DDR2-667 2GB (NewEgg ran out of the Kingston memory I had earlier... making me spend more money. ).

Well, the price went up $20 from before. I remembered about the price drop and was thinking, well, maybe I can just get a C2D (that'd be hella tight).

So, when's it going down? What's the E4300/E4400 supposed to drop to?

- Core 2 Quad Q6600
- DFI Infinity 975X
- 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800
- 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM
- ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB
- Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W
- Acer 19" P191W Monitor
- Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution
- Vista Ultimate x64

So far the prices have been fluctuating badly. I actually went to our local Fry's Electronics and bought a Q6600 last night......$90 cheaper than newegg had it for, and I actually got a free ECS motherboard with it

INTEL QX9650
ASUS P5E3 Premium
4GB DDR3-1600
Sapphire HD 3870X2
Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C)
5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5
BFG ES 800W PSU

thats some deal you got there then. yeah, I noticed the prices change a bit. the price of a E6750 at scan went down alot. any idea if when they will stop fluctuating? Also, when are the new 45nm cpus out? I see 1333fsb cpus but not 45nm ones.

So, update...

I discovered the existence of a much cheaper Intel DC, the Pentium Dual-Core E2140/E2160.

Ironically, the E2160 performs nearly as well as the E4300 (with slight exceptions, but very slim).

Thus, I'm probably gonna buy the E2140. Anything wrong/bad with this idea? Thinking of getting a Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2 motherboard.

EDIT: Never mind... The X2 3800+ performs better than the E2140.... and I'm not planning to O/C, so I'll stay put with AMD.

I was actually thinking of getting the E2xxx but I managed to find a decent deal on a Q6600 and a P35-DS3R motherboard for around 500. There is nothing wrong with the e21xx cpus. I usually see them overclocked to around 3 ghz. Good bang for the buck.

Nothing wrong with it. It's still a Core 2 CPU.

Yeah, both of you probably missed my edit.

I think I'll stay with AMD. Cheaper anyways.
