| It was suggested to me recently here that my monitor (19" KDS CRT) may be on its way out due some display issues when I turn it on, so I'm in the market for a new one. I've never really needed to shop for monitors, so I'm not sure what's good and what's not. I've looked at a lot of reviews on Newegg for widescreen LCDs, and some of the things I'm trying to avoid are dead pixels, excessive heat, too much brightness/contrast and stability/adjustment issues. I've considered LG, Hanns-G, Samsung and a couple other brands, but I'm just not sure how to go with this. And I'm not sure whether to go with widescreen or not. Does anyone have any suggestions? If it's not fixed, then don't broke it! Last edited by Gig-O-Ram; March 11th, 2008 at 18:00. |

| Hanns-G and Samsung are fine monitors. Samsung being a little better. Stay clear of sceptre. The Newegg policy makes it a tad risky to buy from them. I got a Hanns-G 21.6" from them and it is very nice. If you have a staples near you then buying from them on line with discount codes works well ... if you have an issue you just return it to them locally. There are codes at these two sites that I use when buying from Staples. Coupon Site 1 Coupon Site 2 Usually they are stackable ... and these can make an ok deal be a very sweet deal on a monitor. | My only restriction is that I'm on a budget for this one, and I need to keep it to about $220 or less, including tax/shipping. But that 22" Samsung is nice though. If it's not fixed, then don't broke it! |

| Wide is a must once you try it you'll never go back. I have a sceptre X20 it's OK and a fabulous price. I also have a ViewSonic VX2235wm The best in value size and performance is my DCLCD DCL24A Black 24" 2ms Widescreen LCD Monitor. You can't beat the price for a 24" and true High Definition resolution with DVI support HDCP upto 1080p. Sure you could have more hookups better contrast ratio but for bang for the buck it's all I need for a PC. Check It Out! | At work we have a 22" viewsonic, a 24" samsung, a 22" samsung, a 19" samsung, and 2 19" acers the acers are HORRIBLE one has crappy colors, one has strange lines from one corner to another, and the other is just fuzzy the viewsonic and samsungs, however, all look very, very nice, and were about the same cost ![]() |

| T-Rex | Ever thought you might have faulty monitors/cables/video cards? I've had much success with Acer monitors, from the cheapest to what used to be la creme of Acer (Ferrari line) and they normally are quite cheaper than their rivals with same specs. |

| I also have had success with Acer LCDs, i mean even if they are TN Panels imo they the best bang for the buck. You can't be expecting amazing to of the line at the low price ranges, my old Samsung 216BW that i got for $240 looked better than our other Acer AL2223WD that we got for $190. But my Acer P241W looks a hell of a lot better than my Samsung 216BW, but i paid $350 for it. Not always just name recognizability, because don't forget, samsung doesn't make their own LCD panel for their lower end models, its still outsourced to other OEM. They themselves only make their LCD for high end models and Sony. Oh and Acer's 3 yr warranties are great too imo. |
