HP dv9000t - Go 7600GS or Go 7900GS?

I am getting ready to buy my first laptop. So far, I have narrowed the vendor down to HP and the notebook model to a dv9000t. The only problem is that HP is not yet offering the 7900GS in any of their notebooks like Dell and Gateway do. My question to you all is how much of a true difference is there between the 7600GS and the 7900GS?

Is it worth waiting for HP to start selling notebooks with the 7900GS, or should I consider Gateway or Dell instead, and not bother waiting at all? I don't like Dell notebooks as they do not have the expanded keyboard with the number pad, and Gateway notebooks are not only ugly, but I feel they are cheaply made.

I plan to use the notebook for gaming and schoolwork, heavy number crunching. It will most likely be a desktop replacement. Games might include FEAR, Oblivion and perhaps WoW.

my buddy can play BF2 with his 7600 Go with pretty good settings. another option would be to look for a laptop with a 7700 Go. newegg has an Asus laptop with a 14" screen and either a 7700 Go or Mobility X1700 for about $1300
