| in brutal honesty, i cant stand that case. but GREAT build! go for an OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU instead -- way better. other than that, i would recommend Platinum XTC OCZ RAM as well, but not as much of an issue as the PSU. great choice on the cpu; OC the hell out of that. and speaking of which -- get a ZALMAN CNPS9500 with that build FOR SURE. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! | ||||||||||||||

| much better. also, go for a RAPTOR to install your OS and programs on, and use that 500GB for storage. since games are getting bigger, and a lot of other things as well since the world of computers are getting more complicated, you would need a 150GB RAPTOR for sure. when things are installed on the RAPTORS, that 10K RPM is INSANLEY fast! games load way faster -- AND ITS NOTICEABLE! grab one, or even 2 if u can get it into your budget. another thing i wanna remind you of: that motherboard isnt worth the price considering you can get an eVGA or ASUS 680i for so close to it (the eVGA one is currently better). it overclocks WAY better, and runs cooler. the performance is a COMPLETE KNOCK OUT! so... Raptor Newegg.com - Western Digital Raptor 150GB 3.5" Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM and eVGA 680i Chipset Motherboard Newegg.com - EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $2 more after mail in rebate for that motherboard and its way better!!! after those 2 modifications, and with the specs above, your computer will be 100% PERFECT and will be a killer. | ||||||||||||||

| I don't really agree with you on the 10k HDD. The new Seagates 7200.10 are really fast, and the performance is not that noticeable. ![]() If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you? | ||||||||||||||

| 7200.10 makes barely a difference. TRUST me i've seen in-depth professional test reslults -- its pretty much a gimic bro. obvoiusly its impossible to tell if i know what im talking about, but 10K RPM drives are crucial to a high-end computer. that part is a choice - the motherboard is almost essential though. night. | I have done the testing, and like a lot of things, the only place you really see a difference is during benchmarking. In everyday usage you won't notice anything, except the missing money from your wallet......Ditch the Raptor and go with the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10, the Raptors are overrated (I have 2), and you'll notice almost no performance difference, but you will see a huge difference in price to size ratio. I have the 750GB drive, and love it A couple other small things, I hate that case too......look at the Thermaltake Armour Jr or ANTEC Nine Hundred. I also think your PSU is a bit of overkill, you could get a really good 600W PSU and save some money. Lastly, look at some OCZ memory kits, I see some good opttions for right around $200....which when taken with the ideas above can save you $200 or so INTEL QX9650 ASUS Maximus Extreme 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Torture Rack (Custom W/C) Seagate 750GB HDD BFG ES 800W PSU Last edited by gvblake22; December 25th, 2006 at 08:07. | I agree with going for a 7200.10 drive. Those are blazin' fast! Corsair isn't a bad brand for memory, but that memory is a tad pricey without much increase in performance. Also as mentioned, go for a eVGA 680i mobo. They're really nice. Lastly, drop the MSI card and go for an eVGA card. It's worth the extra money. You never know when you need a lifetime warranty (plus, you'll get it on the mobo too). - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 | ||||||||||||||

| Yeah, The Thermaltake Armor Jr would be a great choice for a case. I have first hand experience with that case and it has a lot of room for storage, but it still gets kinda cramped inside and isn't of the best quality. To throw in my $0.02 about the system, I would say downgrade to the 600W OCZ PSU (or some other quality 600W / 500W unit, like Seasonic S12 or Enermax Liberty) and get a monitor with a higher contrast ratio than that Viewsonic you listed. the SAMSUNG 940BX or something with at least an 800:1 contrast ratio. A higher contrast ratio will make the blacks darker and more black and the whites more white and probably be more noticeable than having that 2ms responce rate. | ||||||||||||||
