Default guys Help me decide!!!

my brother ask me if i can build him a C2D build under $900, which includes the LCD monitor... so if any suggetions are welcome...

he is currently unemployed and can only give me $400 buck so i'm willing to toss $500 more to come up with a budget of $900 flat...

if any of you have a usefull junk laying around your house, would be usefull too. :D thank you...

I chose that one b/c of the low cost chipset. Not only is the chipset low-cost, but so the memory it supports. Of course you could always throw in some DDR2 667 memory in a motherboard that supports DDR2 800, but meh.

If that doesn't float your boat, what about this:

Newegg.com - ECS 945G-M3 (V3.0) Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

The 7300Gt really isn't that bad of a card. 7600GS:

Newegg.com - EVGA GeForce 7600GS 256-P2-N541-T2 Video Card - Retail

This build will cost a little over 900, especially if you don't have a copy of windoze.

The VA line of Viewsonic monitors suck plain and simple. I'm not too up to date on LCD's, but I do know that.

My suggestion for a mobo. About the same money after rebate and is DDR2-800 compatible.

Actually I've heard that this particualr model is decent. I donnu, just take a look at these and see what you like

Newegg.com - Search Results for 19" LCD

Personally I like this one

Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 941BW Black 19" 4 ms (GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail

But I have no experience with anything other than Dell LCDs

Shame on me for suggesting a non-DIY route, but did you catch my recent review of the CyberPower Infnity Gamer 7500? It was a complete E6600 PC with 17" LCD and Windows Vista Home Premium for right around $1000 shipped, about $500 less than it have cost if going through Newegg. While that particular configuration would stretch a tad past his budget, he might want to check out other setups on their site. I'd start my search with a look at their baseline Core 2 Duo rig for $669 and customize it, then compare to DIY configs.
