Default evga 680i question

Ok well i just bought a new chipset cooler, but the quesiton is should I have done that or does the stock chipset cooler work better than this Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER RR-NCW-L4E1-GP Copper (Skived fin) Fan&Heatsinks - Retail ??? That's what I bought and now I'm wondering if this is any better than the one i already have. My friend built this computer so I'm actually gonna try to do this myself. Should i keep the stock one or return this?

you should probably keep the stock one because that doesn't really look like it's a chipset cooler.

Compatibility South and North Bridge chips
unless you saw the northbridge or southbridge chipsets getting overheated before, there really is no use for that... plus the reviews across different places were less than spectacular

Thanks HL and Corsair!

you honestly don't need a RAM cooler.....you see some serious tweakers use them when they are pushing serious voltage through their memory.

Just make sure you have good airflow in your case and you'll be fine

It's facing the wrong way.

You want the fan blowing towards the exhaust fan in the case.

yeah, kinda defeating the purpose of the fans by having them facing opposite directions. Flip that Zalman around so its sucking air in from the front and blowing it out the back

These guys are right on about the CPU Cooler. Flip it around.

As far as your chipset cooler goes, your north bridge and south bridge are connected by a heat pipe. You can't replace just the north bridge without also replacing the south. The stock solution works extremely well as long as you have adequate case airflow. Do you have any fans in the front of that case?

Yes I have one fan in the front and its covered so you can't see it. Alright men I'm scared to take any of this stuff out. I have my 91% isopropyl solution to take off the other thermal paste. I also bought artic silver 5 so i can put that new stuff on as well. I have a pci cooling fan 2x 70mm fans blowing towards my gpu. Good stuff... I have to return my chipset cooler now ahh! DOes anyone know how to put in a floppy drive?
