Thumbs down computer hooking up to tv

ok so ive got my rig hooked up to a 17" lcd. And ive got a 26" hd tv with a vga input on the wall next to the computer. my video card has two dvi outs, and one right now is going to the monitor. and ive got some dvi vga adapters. tv also had hdmi input.

ok now for the question(s)

What would be the best option for hooking up my computer to my tv? (i.e. run vga or get dvi to hdmi) and is there a way that if i do run another wire through my second dvi output to my tv, that i can have them both plugged in at the same time and switch on like nvidia control panel between monitor and hd tv or something?

Thank you in advance

vga always works but if you have a hd tv i would try to use HDMI personally.. hdmi always is great quality as vga is not. i would assume its better for the tv also. I personally have not tried this but i would assume the new technology would support HDMI with great picture.

I would get a DVI-to-HDMI cord and just use that on the TV. As long as that works out well then stick with it instead of the VGA. Just use the VGA as the backup plan in case you run into issues with HDMI.

You probably wouldn't with HDMI though. However, you will still have to run analog audio from the TV to your computer. HDMI does transfer audio, but the cable is coming from a video-only source.

i would strongly not agree using HDMI if a VGA input is available to run dual monitor,

HDMI with Nvidia is a PITA, if the VGA input is working perfect the color and clarity is
pretty the same you wouldnt notice it with naked eye... +.02

right now my HDTV 32 widescreen is having a issue with the resolutions and would not
show the top and bottom part of the screen...

Well, for VGA, I can't say that you wouldn't notice the difference with a naked eye. I can easily tell the difference between DVI and VGA, especially with a higher resolution monitor. I know we're not talking about one here, but it's DVI/HDMI is by far the best quality signal.

But, I really don't think you'll care. Plus, the further away you're from a monitor, the less pixelated it is. VGA is the most pliable option.
