| I am wanting to build a new pc from ground up and wanted to see if everything looks good and would work together with no issues. This is what I have in mind Mobo- MSI K9N 570 SLI Platinum Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping CPU- AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping RAM- (4GB total) PC-6400 DDR2 2x2GB Corsair Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping HD- Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 SATA-300 Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping CD/DVD- (2)x Plextor Turboplex Dual layer burner Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping Video Card- EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI-E Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping Case- Xion 2 gaming Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping PSU- Corsair TX 650 watt ATX Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping I plan on using this for gaming, video editing, and dvd burning. Anyone see any problems here? Any suggestions? If it matters my limit I have set my limit to around 1500.00 and trying to get the most out of it. Thanks to any input and sorry for the long post, just want my ducks in a row. |

| HL's Technomancer | Using Micro Center means you're in the States, right? If so, I have to say you'll find better deals for your hardware at Newegg.com then there. That, and the excellent customer support. Also, are you deadset on an AMD system? Intel's Core2 line is much better overall, and a very nice rig can be had for under the budget you've listed. EDIT: What the crap, 89.99 for a DVD burner? Man, I knew Plextor lived off it's name but that is ridiculous. Last edited by Stormcrow; January 29th, 2008 at 19:25. |

| ustjay oday itway | WOW Stormy...SIG looks gr8 man!!! The HDD alone is the same price on Newegg but is for the 32MB cache. And like stormcrow stated...you can not beat the sevice/shipping of Newegg. My complete build except for floppy and cd/dvd came from the egg and so far perfect. | Agreed, Intel is the way to got right now. The E8400 is a great CPU at a great price right now, I think you should go for that. I would recommend the DFI Blood Iron for the motherboard. I have one, it really is a great motherboard. And if you ever decide to overclock, the Blood Iron will definitely be ready. If you want to go really high-end, check out the DFI UT P35-T2R. Not to mention the Abit IP35-Pro, which I've heard good things about as well. While the Corsairs you have listed are good, there are simply better deals out there right now. Check out this 4GB Patriot kit. Keep in mind you'll need a 64-bit OS to take advantage of all 4GB. The GPU you have picked out is good, but for the price the 8800GT awesome. For more power the newer G92 8800GTS is a good choice as well, and if you can afford it, go for the 8800GTX. There are better cases that offer better airflow than that case. See the Antec 900, CM 690, or the Thermaltake Armor. All are excellent cases that offer good airflow. Oh yeah, crazy good sig there Story, great job! | Modder-ator | I second and third what Stormcrow mentioned. Newegg has an amazing selection, reasonable prices, and a good customer service track record. Unless you are some kind of a die hard AMD fan, Intel's Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors are just a better deal all around right now and I suggest you look in that direction. As for DVD burners, you'll want to make sure you get a drive with a SATA interface. Not because it allows for faster speeds than PATA, but because motherboards are being made now that don't even have a PATA connector/controller. So you don't want to get stuck with a PATA drive that you can't use on this generation's or next generations motherboards. And $89 is way too much for a DVD burner, but I've seen Plextor charge $100 or more for a drive. Personally, I have several of the Samsung SATA DVD burners and they have been great. You can usually get them for around $30. Finally, the 8800GTS 512MB video card is a better buy than the 640MB version. Although they have the same model name, the 512MB version uses a newer core manufacturing process (coded "G92") and will outperform the 640MB card in prettymuch every way. the 8800GT 512MB or 8800GTS 512MB cards are both great buys. You could also look at the Radeon HD3870 if you want to price out something from the AMD camp that might be a little cheaper. Last edited by gvblake22; January 29th, 2008 at 19:38. |

| I am not stuck on AMD so Intel is not a problem. I also wasn't aware of the 512 card being better. The system I have now has a Radeon 9800 pro, which was bought around the time it was new. - I kinda been out of the loop for a while on whats good. Guess thats why I came here. I'll look over Newegg and check some things out. |

| Also you may want to look into a quad-core. Video-editing is fairly CPU-intensive and you may see a substantial increase in performance. Check out the Q6600, pretty much the best quad-core for the money. | Right now I have a 22 in widescreen LCD. That may get increased. |

| Modder-ator | You will probably not want to get anything less than a Radeon HD3850 or 8800GTS 320MB. If you can afford it, an 8800GTS 512MB would be a great card, especially if you plan on bumping up to a 24" LCD with it as the extra pixels of the 24" screen compared to that of a 22" puts a surprisingly large extra load on the video card. |
