Default BUILD FINISHED!! -With Pix-

W00ot. I just finished my build. I guess you could call this my "first" build, from the ground up anyway.

Everything but the case got here on Tuesday. The case came on Thursday. It all came in about 5 or so large boxes, the UPS guy's comment was "You know you can buy these things already built, right?"

Well Anyway here are some pics:

I have to say the cosmos is a HUGE friggin case. Much bigger than I had expected. Everything went pretty well. The only thing that was amiss was that the PSU obviously hadn't been designed to be bottom mounted. The 4 pin power cable hardly reached, it actually between the last few fins of the Zalman.

Here is my workstation before:

And after.....

I need to work on some cable management/speaker placement though.

The final specs came to:
-Intel Core2 Duo Quad
-2GB Crucial Ballistix
-Nvidea 8800GTX
-Gigabyte S-series P35 MOBO
-WD 500GB HDD
-CM Cosmos Case
-Logitec z5300e speaker system
-Logitec Wave wireless KB and mouse
-24" Acer LCD
-Windows Vista Ultimate

It turned out really well, thanks to everyone who helped me.

Gigabyte DS3R-P35
Evga 8800GTX
4GB OCZ Platinum

Very nicely done......I expect we'll be seeing more of you around here, and on the CS:S server.

I'd definitely recommend Dave's cable management guide when you have free time......I'm anal about cables, but understand the excitement of getting the build finished.

I definitely think the cabling in the case needs improvement, but Capper makes a good point about wanting your first build to get done!

My case took about 1.5 hours to cable, but it was well worth it! And, we have similar specs!

If you need a new signature for that badass rig, let me know - check out my Official Signature Request thread.

Enjoy!

Not only about cables.
Have fun dude, nice build you got there. Definitely take some time cleaning the cable mess, buy a few extensions (4pin 12V mostly) if necessary.

Good job Gamer, congrats on surviving your 1st build. This was a long time coming for you, and well earned from having computed on that Dell for the last couple of years.

Welcome to the quad-core club, and hurry up and get settled so we can move on to overclocking!
