Default Anything lint free?

I am fitting my new processor and will be cleaning it and my heatsink using IPA. I am advised to use a lint free cloth to apply the IPA. I havent got 1 (I dont think). Is there an alternative, I have cotton wool and earbuds! I havent any coffee filters which can do the job. Thanx.

You could use an old cotton T that has been thoroughly washed and dried (without a dryer sheet). What in the world is IPA? Thermal compound?

IPA is Isopropyl Alcohol.
I thought cotton contained lint.

Coffee filters work great.

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

I use cotton swabs, then use compressed air to blow it off afterwards.

Cheers guys. I think I will try and find a lint-free cloth from some where. *Wonders where*

That's what I used to use. After the above results with coffee filter, I may go back to them.

I also use Q-tips, with >90% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol, alternating between wet and dry swabs until no more gunk is detected. Or better yet, if I have some on hand (which I do), Arctic Silver's ArctiClean works great.

i use coffee filters and articleans. Although its funny the instructions say to use a paper tower to wipe off formula 1 and lint-free cloth for formula 2, i dont know anyone who'd use a paper tower no matter what formula.
